Access files via USB or SSH using Windows Explorer without iTunes

i haven't had luck searching. what's best way of accessing iphone file system using windows explorer, if don't have itunes installed? know can use ssh client winscp access files, that's more cumbersome mapping network drive. and, of course, ssh access using wifi slower usb.

there seem options if have itunes installed, want avoid doing if @ possible. suggestions.
