Whats more Cost Effective when purchasing iPhone 4S? Buying it out right or contract?

okay heres predicament.

iphone 4 stolen , need iphone. end of story there

have 2 options.

buying phone out right.

32gb - 759
64gb - 849

canadian taxes 64 959 xd

other option apparently im eligable upgrade on current contract discounted price.

however, need add data plan current plan.

current plan right 21.95 (inlcudes voice , text)
taxt comes around 25 dollars.

cheapest data plan 10 dollars, need add on top of th e 21.95 bring 31 dollars, tax total of 36 dollars 3 years since canadians have have 3 year dumb contracts instead of 2..

ive used iphone past 3 years without data, jsut dont need it, , when do, 98% of time have wifi avaibale, @ home or university campus.

question - whats more cost effective? (or better decision)

keeping insanely low plan 25 dollars month paying full price iphone (considering 64gb)

or extending 3 year contract , paying 36 dollars phone @ discounted price of 369 (for 64gb model)

(36 months*36)+369 = $1665
(36 months*25)+959 = $1859

seems cheaper in long run, , data.

don't luxury of upgrading every year though.
