Running VMW Fusion 3 on Snow Leopard... what to upgrade first?

if i'm planning upgrade lion here in near future, ya upgrade vmware fusion 3 fusion 4 before upgrading lion? or lion upgrade first?

it seems fusion 3 have lot of issues lion according this

however, according documentation fusion 4, have uninstall fusion 3 before installing fusion 4 anyways, , not remove disk image file windows stored.

should backup windows disk image file, uninstall fusion 3, install fusion 4, upgrade lion, hope still working. if breaks, can uninstall fusion 4, reinstall fusion 4, , use backup restore windows.
