why is my public ip different from my real ip? (xbox connecting probs)

hi, ive got macbook cant connect new xbox360.

ive tried connect360 , rivet.

public ip (whatismyipaddress.com) 71.68.227.xxx
real ip (system prefs) 192.168.2.x

using programs peerguardian , little snitch. after disabling filters on both of these programs still won't connect.

1 of theses programs masking ip making unable connect xbox?

understand have different public ip need configure xbox to?

 

what difference between public , private ip addresses?
problems connecting macbook wireless connection xbox 360 live (dns)
