Canon i80 trouble...

first, apologize if in wrong location. first time visiting here.

have canon i80 printer on windows 7 machine i'm trying print to. after time lurking here, found needed cups drivers, downloaded canon's cups driver printer, macbook didn't detect driver. downloaded gutenprint's latest drivers. after that, laptop found not new guten drivers, official canon driver downloaded previously. when setting official driver, getting "hold: authentication" error or such. tried guten driver. 1 printed, black text stretched , printed 3 colors, making barely readable. guten faq said can happen if driver "experimental" listed printer, , was. tried switch original driver, , i'm not getting authentication error, stuck on "sending print data" stage. suggestions?
