Recording from my turntable

hi,

i'm trying record turntable imac. here's i've tried far:

have qed j2p 3.5mm stereo jack 2 phono interconnect connected phono stage imac. have tried both garageband & audacity. no sound coming through @ all.

ideas? know should simple. thanks.

 

have set not record built-in mic?

system preferences -> sound -> input -> line in
