high data usage alert
dear hello,

other wireless companies, at&t taking steps manage exploding demand mobile data. we're responding on many levels, including investing billions in our wireless network year , working acquire more network capacity.

mentioned on previous bill, we're taking additional, more immediate steps address network congestion , improve reliability. 1 of these steps involves change customers use extraordinarily large amounts of data in single billing period - 12 times more data average smartphone user.

current billing cycle, data usage indicates affected change. here's how works:

smartphone customers unlimited data plans may experience reduced speeds once usage in billing cycle reaches level puts them among top 5 percent of heaviest data users. these customers can still use unlimited data , speeds restored start of next billing cycle.

we're writing because in top 5 percent of heaviest data users billing cycle. because recognize data usage can change month month, not see reduced speeds billing cycle.

beginning next billing cycle, we'll send text message if approaching top 5 percent of heaviest data users. we'll send second text message if cross top 5 percent of heaviest users, @ point may see reduced speeds rest of month.

customers have several ways manage extremely high data usage.

wi-fi offers great speeds , doesn't add wireless data usage. consider using wi-fi when possible applications use highest amounts of data, such streaming video apps, remote web camera apps, large data-file transfers (like video) , online gaming.

may consider switching tiered data plan if speed more important having unlimited data plan. customers on tiered plans can pay more data if need it, , not see reduced speeds.
