2011 MBP Major Slowdown

hi there,

i've got 2011 15" mbp (i7 2.2, 8gb ram, hd6750, 750gb stock hdd, 10.7.2) , in last couple weeks, it's showing major slowdown issues.

can't pinpoint why, 'everything' feels slower. boot takes longer, opening apps takes longer, , there's more noticeable issues example;

itunes playback stutters regularly, point tracks unlistenable.

when using virtual instruments in logic (kontakt example) playing more 2 notes simultaneously results in further notes being cut-off.

clicking on menu bar items 'file/edit/view' etc results in few seconds wait when used instantaneous.

in photoshop, switching brushes, painting on small canvases results in long wait times.

i've been mac user ~8 years , first time i've seen remotely similar.

typing message cursor freezing after every few words.

i've checked activity monitor , nothing appears out of ordinary, on 6gb of ram showing free, , 90% of cpu free. when using logic cpu/ram meters idle happily near 0. also, prior these issues, run logic tracks many instances of kontakt/other au's without problem @ all.

i've tried usual reset pram, repair permissions etc , no luck. i've checked hdd in disk util , apparently it's fine (from verification point of view).

ideas?

i'm 5 months warranty i'm covered, have applecare rely on computer daily work i'm wondering if there's guys suggest before take apple store.

 

create account , see if issues arise within account pinpoint if may hardware related or within user folder/ profile.
