hacintosh benchmarks of xeon e5 cpus foretells next mac pro speeds?
april 6th 2012

forum post on @ tonyx86.com has hackintosh system running new xeon e5 processors. cpus expected in next update mac pro. specific cpus used dual xeon e5 2690, includes 8 cores each @ 2.9 ghz. so, 16 core machine.

geekbench scores came in @ 41,000 running in 64-bit mode under windows 7. unfortunately forum poster hasn't gotten os x side running full capacity yet. likely, things work better once apple pushes out os update accompany new mac pros.

give perspective, current top end mac pro officially recorded @ 24,159. current top end imac listed @ 12,575. such mac pro upgrade suggests impressive cpu crunching. but, hold on wallet, e5 2690 retails $2040 each. that's around $600 more original msrp of x5670 in current top of line mac pro. volume discounts, apple tack on margin, suggests new xeon e5 processors may push mac pro prices higher.

yet more proof imac fast mac pro.
