How does the Lion "time machine for a file" feature work on files in a sparesbundle?

i have text file keep in encrypted sparesebundle. write things in there of sensitive nature.

unmount sparsebundle drive when done obviously. realized lion keeps revision history of saves of file when click on filename title.

stored? sensitive text file being stored somewhere accessible though it's supposed safe in sparesbundle??

not quite sure how time-machine style versioning of files works when you're editing don't want saved somewhere accessible.

versions kept here: in hidden folder named .documentrevisions-v100 in root directory of hard drive.

suggest consider splashid safe or 1password. managing own sparsebundle seems work , fighting against lion's automatic version saving non-encrypted area of hdd. option consider freeware textwrangler behaves textedit ought to.
