Question on iPod 5th generation black

i wanted ipod , never bought 1 since thought expensive(not music person) way ipods on , ipod touch world.

want buy 5th generation ipod , black 1 play video. wondering few things:

1)are these things still supported apple? mean if connect macbook running lion , latest itunes, work? know apple has thing abandoning support things quickly

2)how long these things survive? ipod released in 2005 seems century ago. die soon? survive long time? malfunction ? have replaceable parts? understand don't.

3) advice on cleaning used ipod touch?

i have 5th gen ipod , use everyday

answer questions...

1) have macbook pro , it's running lion , latest itunes , syncs fine, ipod os apple doesn't release updates anymore, on 1.3 now

2) have used mine daily since bought new , still works fine, battery doesn't last long @ all, it's getting used in truck can plug up, every , freeze , lags bad, still useable, have dropped mine few times no case on , has dents , scratches, it's not dead. can replaceable parts "ifix it"

3) not know
