Question regarding AT&T Unlimited Data

i posted elsewhere no 1 has been able answer it.

dad has original ipad unlimited data. since doesn't use 3g offered me.

so, here questions.

1. still able turn data plan on , off when need it, or have pay month-to-month keep lapsing? i've heard people mention 'lapsing' don't quite understand it.

2. can change payment info without lapsing?

3. work lte or hspa+ / hsdpa?

, lastly, need switch out sim cards?
