ok, have dilemma. had newertech ministack v.2.5 enterprise edition connected macbook 4,1 backup hard drive. ministack case failed rma'd case , hard drive. there no parts fix case anymore, have choice make: either take owc mercury elite pro 944 or wait new ministack case come out. ports break down follows:
elite pro 944
(1) esata, (2) firewire 800(1394b), (1) firewire 400(1394a), , (1) usb 2.0+1.1 ports
new ministack (from newertech homepage)
(1) esata (300mb/s), (2) firewire 800 (100mb/s), , (1) usb 3.0/2.0 (500mb/s / 60mb/s)
macbook has fw400 , usb 2 ports.
ports, elite pro has 1 more fw port ministack, has older usb implementation. connect fw800 ministack port mb fw400 port fw800 fw400 cable. give me usb 3 future. either option, lose usb/fw400 hub once had on ministack v.2.5.
design, ministack, elite pro 944 more versatile--standing vertically laying horizontally.
remaining question if 1 faster other. chipset in elite pro oxford 944se. there has been no announcement chipset in ministack. know if 1 has been faster historically?
have wait 4-6 weeks ministack elite pro immediately.
option take , why?
should add aesthetically, ministack fits better black mb , black , silver hp monitor.
