i have 3gs on 5.1. it's fine - 3gs runs same speedwise (not ios 4 within 90%).

however, ios 5 buggy - double text tones going off, lockscreen slider unresponsive texts/calls (it's rare it's happened).

upgrade because of icloud, wireless syncing, imessage , new great features - worth it.
