i tried doing search on this, after reading 20th forum post , not finding looking for, decided post question , hope best.
work home on imac , connect pc in office running windows xp professional.
until saturday, using imac running os x 10.6.8 , connected via cisco vpn , remote desktop no issues. connected well, , lost connection, unless there issue actual internet connection.
on saturday, got new imac (converted husband giving him other one) , 1 running os x 10.7.2. used time machine set new computer mirror 1 using.
noticed right away no longer use cisco vpn, , instead had set vpn through network preferences. appears issue cisco not updating work lion, not huge deal. have macbookpro runs vpn way , have no real issues it.
on past 2 days, remote desktop has been disconnecting on frequent basis. uninstalled remote desktop , downloaded again microsoft, see if help, no luck. if command + 2 , minimize screen on mac desktop, lot, there chance when go remote desktop, disconnected. , if away computer longer enough screen saver kick in, both vpn , remote desktop disconnect.
did not have these issues when on 10.6.8 , wondering if there kind of workaround stop them happening on 10.7.2
i use teamviewer, works windows, mac os x, linux, ubuntu, iphone, ipad, etc. it's secure , quite simple set , use (no messing around ports), comes in handy if providing remote support aren't computer literate. can talk them through setup on end , connected them in less minute. it's free personal use. prefer on logmein because includes free file transfers between computers, feature use frequently.
