New Mac Pro doesn't seem to be running fast!

i have 8 core mac pro, got around christmas. it's seemed running fast. month ago wouldn't start , sit @ apple logo. reinstalled lion , ever since computer seems running slow. macbook air runs faster thing , granted has ssd thing has beat in else. should do? don't think there virus. have virusbarrier plus sweep every week. think happening?

when did install virusbarrier? virusbarrier known slow down macs, if time machine on.
