How to get started with iPad

i got new ipad 2 christmas , start using had connect wife's pc since have older mac running tiger @ time. pc didn't have downloaded itunes; music, movies, etc on mac. have updated os on mac , running lion. how can sync ipad mac , retrieve music? lose applications have on ipad if this? thanks.
