a few days ago started thread on imac board because having lot of trouble deciding between imac or mini. conclusion, me, of thread bang buck imac better deal: quad core, desktop not laptop components, screen, keyboard , mouse. mini should considered if need small form factor, or low wattage.
conclusion troubling since imac has 1 big disadvantage: in 1 design means if 1 part fails fails.
question 1: same dilemma might different response on mini board. mini fans disagree conclusion?
not in great hurry going hang around 2012 refreshes.
or course solve dilemma buying both! mini low power signature make nice on fileserver , on itunes server , access outside of home once dynamic ip address issues sorted out.
starting form view used 2010 mini buy , have started watch ebay few days idea of availability , prices - not enough traffic yet sure. 2010 server apple care 18 months did go @ weekend £450. around 50% of cost of 2011 model.
2 questions:
a) percentage of cost of better spec 2011 model upper limit people pay 2010 model. me 50% sounds right. apple used prices seem hold well, , maybe 50% lower average?
b) since 2010 models out of warranty should buy if balance of 3y apple care on offer?
