iTunes import settings? VBR?

is bit rate quality? i'm trying find match between file size , quality. can't tell difference between 192 , 320 i've kept stuff around here....but discovered vbr function in itunes thinking of going this:

why using mp3? change aac (mp4) better sound @ same bit rate. noticeable better less artifacts

, yes, vbr sounds better same bit rate. vbr lets encoder place bits good.

disks noe cheap. $100 buys 1tb drive may use lossless format. maybe can't hear difference day might buy better equipment , if listen enough ears better. if happens have re-rip lossless. may save hassle , lossless now. lossless can create other format need.
