hey updated 10.7.3. after updated tried use spotlight. first problem type 2 letters disappear come few seconds later nothing typed in it. did safe boot , disk repair stopped disappearing spotlight won't search computer. asks search web or wikipedia. went terminal , entered sudo mdutil -e /, did nothing. should wait update apple or guys have suggestions?
got 256gb crucial ssd, should hold off on installing until problem fixed?
btw have 2011 13inch mbp 2.7ghz i7 upgraded 8gb ram.

as saw thread title, knew spotlight!
1) open activity monitor in utilities folder. 2) find mds process. click quit on top left of window, , click force quit. 3) open system preferences, spotlight, privacy tab, add macintosh hd, remove it. 4) leave second, , should start reindexing. wait complete, , it'll working again.
i've been having issues index being deleted again; has happened on both mbp (which i'm sorting type this) , on imac. i'll update tomorrow if happens again, , provide solution if can.
