Storing iPhone 3G for long period of time

should keep 50% charge in battery , turn off? or should drain battery , keep safe?

have backup phone , kept.

don't drain battery. draining lithium battery bad battery. advise, turn off when it's @ 75% charge , put away. if can, charge @ least every 3 months.
