Sharing iTunes Library and syncing iOS devices

i share itunes library between mac pro, in studio , mbp @ home.
can use 1 1tb hard drive , move between machines, providing keep itunes library files on media?
if mean can sync iphones & ipad either machine providing connected library @ time?
historical reasons ios devices sync studio mac pro. don't ripping dvds on mbp (in fact can't because have put in optibay hdd) use stream tv when home. @ moment have faff around removable media take between locations.

you can set each machine see same drive etc. however, main issue itunes library data , playlist data file in user music folder on each machine, not on data external directory. need quit itunes , copy files across external , on mac pro or mbp home folder each time wanted move 1 machine other. assuming work long each machine had same version of os x , itunes running on it. if moved drive , had each point drive when connected, each time added music library, add in machine , have re-add other when connected, making sure not copy files again, add them library. likewise, playlists , devices on each library separate.
