Macbook Air- Where to buy?

i getting 500 towards computer graduation present. have 2010 imac , thinking getting macbook air 11 inch 128gb. contemplating waiting next update , buy. thinking amazon because apple not have student program yet summer , don't free printer anymore. amazon lower apple.com(1,120) + no sales tax (technically). , have amazon prime free 2 day shipping.
since have imac, willing wait. word on possible macbook air refresh?

should wait?
should buy?
should macbook air (vs. ipad 3, windows laptop less (blah) )?
