How to disable Sync in 10.6.8

i have annoying , recurring problem; never used mobileme somehow 'sync' functionality has been activated, icon remains in menubar.

@ inconvenient moments d--n thing attempt sync , give me (fault)messages, has been trying sync google address-book 1 on macpro.

how can deactivate this? thanks.
