Troubleshoot Macbook please

hey!

so, im trying fix friends mb. white 2.16 core 2 duo.

keyboard, power button , trackpad stopped working. after powering on shorting solder points on motherboard, usb externals worked perfectly.
got new top case cable ifixit. got power button working again alas kb , trackpad remained dead.

funny thing, power button turns macbook on, once on, mb ignores further pushes, holding down try , force shutdown doesn't work.

went system profile , on usb tab, there no mention of keyboard nor mouse (internal hub) external mouse , kb did show up.


have clue should next???

sounds either little connector on logic board or usb controller behind toast. unfortunately, there's no real way fix other getting new logic board. , machine of age, new logic board going cost more machine worth.

if have time , spare hdd, install os x on spare hdd on macbook , boot off see if problem persists. if does, i'm gonna it's hardware issue. if doesn't, may have simple software issue requires detective work or reinstall of os x. luck!
