Any Hard Drives for this use?

i'm musician working in logic pro on laptop. want able store logic files, , other samples on external drive , take drive office have imac (my main recording computer). open ports on imac include usb , thunderbolt. open ports on macbook pro include firewire 800 , thunderbolt.

there small, portable, rock solid, high quality hard drive can hold little 500gb 2tb , function both usb , firewire connectable unit? or thunderbolt? thanks...

 

there lacie little big disk, or seagate goflex adaptors, aside this, doesn't seem there both.

2 adaptors (one usb , 1 thunderbolt) work?

of these routes expensive, it's best choose either or (though of course may not option).
