Is there something wrong with my Verizon 4g iPad?

i bought new verizon 4g ipad. haven't had reason buy data plan on yet, have question need with. live @ address supposed covered verizon's lte network, when i'm using ipad noticed in upper left says it's connected 3g , not lte. there wrong ipad won't find lte signal, or because haven't subscribed data plan? i'm curious if issue need into, or if normal operation ipad.

 

this normal. lte doesn't show until it's activated. search forum next time.
