have moved cyprus in past year & though have sale many apple products, there no official apple store means i7 3.4 imac unavailable here. importing uk or store may have model or ebay solution happens when computer needs repairs imacs have problems. aging mac pro in need of upgrade, logic 9 demands cpu power & use alot of synths & effects. new mac pro expensive dispose of in 4 years when hoped last quite bit longer. imacs available here i5 models wont handle 64 tracks 10 plugins on each use. im not expecting of increase ivy bridge i5's when theyre available. seems powerful processing, got go quad i7. ideas welcome!
you right. i7 2x faster in logic because of hyperthreaded cores. ivy die shrink , on board gpu increase. not expecting on 5-10% increase clock clock. try find i7 imac or better yet used mac pro quad , buy xeon w36xx 6-core. more tracks i7 imac.
