iPad 1 can't handle iTextbooks... Anyone else?

my ipad 1 cannot handle itextbooks. downloaded free "life on earth" textbook , never loads or crashed ibooks.

never loading, mean intro video doesn't play (although audio) , goes grey burlap looking background , stays there.

can rid of page getting ibooks app crash.

have made sure apps closed (did not help) , did complete reset of ipad (power+home button) (still did not help).

son's ipad 2 handles "life on earth" textbook fine.

maybe related, maybe not, see ton of crashes ipad 1. every app has crashed on me. safari, mail, youtube, , games biggest culprits.

thoughts or comments?
