How did they get the blurring to be so much in this photograph?

how did background blurred through photoshop or lens?



blurred background camera. blurring done through focus points.

 

looks pretty standard shallow depth of field me. typical result of photo taken long focal length , wide aperture.

edit: cat photo wasn't showing when first replied. if want kind of subject separation see in photo of xbox, you'll need lens wide maximum aperture, 100mm , f/2.
