i have 3g (not altered not under contract) , 3gs (not altered, under current contract), 3g old phone , use via wifi in house daughter - youtube , apps had on it.
3gs replacement 3g , full active phone, old 3g got lost bit , when found under couch dead , couldn't work wifi after charging up, hooked itunes , did full reset, got wifi working again, when put 3gs itunes it's trying put stuff off old 3g onto 3gs (under 3gs , apps says sync checkbox), when check box it's showing apps , structure old 3g setup (not 3gs has on it).
went edit/preferences/devices , erased 2 backups showed, after plugging in 3gs again still showing 3g info under apps when try sync (i didn't because appears change 3gs apps of 3g).
hope makes sense, need reinstall itunes or something?
don't plug in old 3g even, since having trouble wifi thought totally reset via itunes on (got working fine again btw).
