so. lugged old imac g3 out of storage hold of .mov files on it. although these files complete on g3, when try opening them on macbook pro quicktime says cannot locate of clips. has experienced same thing? advice appreciated.
quicktime "container" format. .mov file can hold actual video , audio streams (be "self-contained") or can contain references (pointers) video , audio stored in other files.
solution may simple copying entire folder contains movies. if files referenced .mov file in folder .mov file should play ok on macbook pro because quicktime find referenced files in same (copied) folder.
if turns out referenced files not in same folder, can try opening each movie in quicktime on g3 , using save as or save web create new self-contained movie files.
