Selective transferring of apps/backup files from old laptop

hi,

purchased new 13" macbook pro replace old 14" ibook g4 , have questions hope can answered in thread. if not, maybe can direct me appropriate thread.

when setting new mbp, decided not use setup assistant or migrate assistant because did not want clog new laptop lot of "useless" files understand remain in hdd when old applications, files, etc. deleted.

have manually adjusted system preferences, dock, etc. imitate how on old laptop , installed apps use. however, don't know how transfer backup files associated apps.

following list of apps using. need know, each app, can locate backup file on old laptop can transfer new laptop, and, if possible, whether preferences, toolbar customization, etc., can transferred. i'll include specific concerns have:

1) 1password: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences;

2) itunes: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences. assume music library part of backup data; if not, need transfer it, well;

3) safari: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences. assume bookmarks part of backup data; if not, need transfer them, well;

4) mail: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences. assume mailboxes part of backup data; if not, need transfer them, well;

5) address book: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences. assume contacts part of backup data; if not, need transfer them, well;

6) ical: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences. assume events , "to do" lists part of backup data; if not, need transfer them, well;

7) stickies: need transfer backup data and, if possible, preferences. assume notes part of backup data; if not, need transfer them, well;

8) evernote: seems have transferred when logged in. don't think need else; if do, please let me know;

9) microsoft office: had purchase microsoft office 2011 because mbp not support microsoft office 2004. it, however, possible transfer word document template new documents formatted way have set on old laptop , toolbars customized way have them on old laptop? if so, find template (i notice there 1 buried in applications , 1 in microsoft backup data; 1 one use?

this why love mobileme. download idisk. new icloud, can't move powerbook icloud cause doesn't exist.


easiest way either connect both macs ethernet cord... move info old mac new one.

or b. buy jump drive , move info way.


in every application can import info, including safari. in each app go file - import. save jump drive/flash drive.

or c. use iphone/ipod sync info macs.
