i sold old 24 inch refurb imac. day one, trouble, banding on screen , image persistence, , genius bar refused me, saying part of normal function. opened , upgraded hard drive (why not? warrantee worthless!) , despite screen irritating hell out of me, best computer ever owned.
next month looking @ getting newer model, , considering either base model imac or mid-range mini. refurb base model imac better buy, while mac mini half power , requires buy monitor , keyboard etc separately, more modular problems easier handle.
stress put under portal 2, otherwise needs handle occasional vm, sync ipad, surfing, , spreadsheets, , bit of transcoding, either of these machines job.
option refurb 11" macbook air. in 1 box, , compensate storage, mac mini on living room tv hosts few hard drives whole household. reason don't air because have ipad , don't see need yet mobile device.
love simplicity of mac, reliability, , interface, stubborn refusal honor warrantee what's influencing buying decision right now.
apple sells quality refurbs got unlucky. since you're unlucky, maybe skip refurb , go new.
