Home button gone crazy

hello all, i'm hoping can me ipod touch.

have 3rd gen touch homebutton seems think being pushed @ random times. 3-7 times per minute act if button has been pressed. quitting app , taking me home screen or "double clicking itself" , bringing task bar.

button seems in fine shape , makes nice solid click when pushed , comes right up. haven't dropped or gotten water on it. these things ive tried already:

full restore
reset home button (power button until slide screen , home button until home screen)
cleaning around button dry toothbrush bristles

none of made difference.

have other ideas?

 

sounds sensor switch home button might going bad ... thinks home button being pushed when it's not. i'd take apple. sounds it's unusable is.
