Backing up apps?

so mac os lion has been kind of buggy lately. planning perform clean install. wondering how apps have in itunes? have lot of apps , search them again such pain.

 

use time machine entire drive , selectively restore want.

can clone using carbon copy cloner , you'll have exact duplicate of volume.
