why doesn't the mic pick up sound from the speakers?

hello, isn't problem curious how/why.

whenever facetime or skype, person on other end not hear sound coming out of speakers, no matter how loud play music other person can still hear me not music.

why this?!

realise microphone located in left speaker, due microphone being below speaker or something?

have 2011 macbook pro way.
