Using UK 3 iPhone in USA, carriers?

ok so, title states, have iphone 4 (on 3), live in uk, i'd continue using iphone 4 in usa, question is, given difference in bands used in usa, mean i'm stuck at&t , verizon (with no 3g).

there local carriers in ca use or given micro sim shunted big carriers?

here in uk, have 1 month rolling pay sim monthly contracts, can cancel months notice, ideal me. carriers have kind of plan? if so, offer micro sims

note: jail breaking iphone, don't want jailbreak should use etc etc. know how that, want advice on best carrier go given needs.

 

there 4 main carriers in t-mobile, at&t, verizon, , sprint. can use t-mobile , at&t because use gsm technology (what iphone has).

problem t-mobile that, although cheaper at&t, edge speeds. aren't extremely terrible, edge edge.

i'd avoid using of "big 4" because process started , cancel can annoying , possibly expensive.

have carrier called "red pocket" , runs off of at&t's network, similar coverage/speeds. can order sim on amazon , it's payg it's simple use.
