hey everyone. have never posted in forum before used avid reader of macrumors.com thought i'd trust guys this. here goes , thank guys help!
in believe may of 2007 got expensive dell laptop confirmation. had cost upwards of $2100 think , believe inspiron e1505 (just guess can't remember, don't know if real model haha). long story short sucked , lasted less year. in october of 2008 (literally day unibody came out) ordered first mac, , far best decision have ever made. parents spent lot of money on laptop ($2700 believe) promise last me through high school (which did without hitch). became biggest apple fanboy ever. had 10 websites i'd check daily including mac rumors, gizmodo, engadget, bgr, apple insider... list goes on haha.
point, current mbp 15" (really wish 13" mbp available @ time) original late 2008 unibody. looks brand new, not scratch on it. @ times have keyboard cover, invisible shield on inside components, hardshell case on outside, , transport in neoprene sleeve. people don't believe me 4 years old haha. has 2.8 ghz intel core 2 duo processor, 4 gb 1067 mhz ddr3 memory, nvidia geforce 9400m 256 mb graphics , 320gb hd (which full). laptop has been flawless until recently. shocks me, enter/return key has stopped working (have use on screen keyboard), trackpad gets jammed down couple times week, hinge loose screen falls backwards while sitting on table, , in past week has shut off in middle of tasks (thought maybe battery coming loose every time plugged in , can take bat out while it's plugged in , stays on). i've noticed decrease in performance.
i'm in college , taking computer everywhere smaller nicer. since starting college last fall have halted apple fanboy antics , out of loop , sucks. it's bad don't know product upgrade cycles anymore (for instance when macbook air refresh imminent). i'm looking possibly upgrade(?) eleven inch macbook air (fully upgraded) ≈$1700. how compare current mbp? how performance compare it? @ point pretty nothing use word processors, web browsing, watch hulu , such. fit me? or need more powerful? have 320gb hd full. year ago had transfer iphoto library external hard drive (which i'm fine because @ photos). have 90 gb of movies , 20gb of music. things need on hd music, applications (predominantly productivity suite, thinking switching apple equivalent) , documents syllabuses , essays nothing large.what 151 gb of "other" consist of on hd? i'll admit, when younger had lot of games installed , download stuff internet. think 256gb enough? or have 13" mbp instead 750 gb hd (i'd upgrade 8gb of ram too) ≈$1700.
preferably i'd love macbook air weight, or lack there of. right there no difference between upgraded 13" , 11" except screen size , card slot, no difference under hood right? how 13" mbp , 11" mba compare current system (minus hardware problems i'm having. battery life important, there minimal of power outlets in library haha.
last question i'm going ask when think should upgrade? preferably i'd wait until right after refresh lineups since i'm out of loop i'm not sure when is. word on rumor mill might shed light on how long i'll have wait? i'm firm believer waiting until right after refresh line , upgrading system doesn't become obsolete , outdated quickly. preferably i'm looking machine me through college (which parents appreciate). on side note, of foresee major refresh in new future? (like within 2 years?). lately have pretty been doing performance , battery upgrades (which totally fine). (your opinion) guys see major refresh (like addition of unibody housing in 2008) on horizon such touch screen or retina display?
guys think work me? sorry long appreciated , respected given guys more in know me.
1 last thing have never admitted guys might enjoy... in late 2009 when rumors apple releasing device in between iphone , notebook (now know ipad, wasn't announced until jan of 2010) friend , on rainy day (literally) bored , decided have fun. turned old voice recording picture frame double touch screen apple netbook prototype. picked many gadget websites including engadget although didn't take lot of people did! haha literally took hour make , if still google "macbook micro" today on google can find hundreds of pictures , articles online it!
