first off don't understand computer lingo well. learn muddling through , searching web answers. after 6 hours of searching yesterday close giving up. apple support going charge me, internet provider might , might charge me, past experiences retail computer stores proved useless, , apple installation booklet helpful point.
problem: mac mini, atv2, , dsl hook-up. don't have wifi, wireless, or routers , refuse have cable tv. have ethernet cable ready mini has 1 ethernet plug. how hook up? mini gift our children 2 years ago , atv2 '11 christmas gift our son. great kids, right!
read splitters, articles can others can't. if use splitters have used in pairs. pair @ computer , pair, where? @ phone jack or on atv2? articles mini same , better atv2!???
lost understatement! appreciated , keep mom tossing out window!
this need:
- purchase wireless router
- "phone plug looking" network cable plugs mac mini plugged "uplink" port on router.
- now, can run wires other ports on router mac mini , appletv. alternatively, since router wireless, both mac mini , appletv can access internet wirelessly.
