i have canon powershot sd750 (old camera, know). haven't shot single picture on thing in many months - last time got workout during last year's pax east (and haven't gotten photos out of there yet).
hardly best photographer - know lingo (focal length, aperture, iso), wouldn't call myself amateur photographer - consumer seeks capture mundane moments of life few others care about.
@ rate, planning digital photography again after long hiatus. but, of course, need new camera. never satisfied sd750, due bad low-light performance. ton of indoor shots, , not heavy editing through lightroom can cancel out of noise. planning sell , replace compact has better low light performance.
right now, have 2 choices within budget: canon powershot elph 300 hs ($166 on amazon), or canon powershot elph 110 hs ($250). 110 hs has yet released, can pre-order 1 , on doorstep time anime boston arrives.
but, open other suggestions compact cameras cost less $300.
a used canon s90 or panasonic lx3 less $300, , around $350 new. can't think other compacts in price range @ decent in low light without flash.
edit: maybe nikon p300, low light advantage applies wide end of zoom (same s90/95, really). it's less $300 new.
