iMessage MBP badge clearing issue

wirelessly posted (mozilla/5.0 (iphone; cpu iphone os 5_1 mac os x) applewebkit/534.46 (khtml, gecko) version/5.1 mobile/9b179 safari/7534.48.3)

mbp shows 22 messages on icon (badge), can't seem clear. have similar issue or solution?

 

had same thing morning. didn't have time before had leave work. friend, on other end of imessage said closed chat conversation , opened new 1 clear badges.
