here's story: have ipod 3rd generation. dropped 4 years ago, after displayed folder , exclamation point icon. able disk mode, won't display on computer.
bought new hard drive it, exact model original hard drive. replaced hard drive (not connector), , same thing. difference is, connects via usb. itunes recognized ipod , correct type, keep getting error message telling me connect via firewire. when try connect via firewire, won't show on computer. went disk utility see if can erase drive, , still error message saying won't erase it.
have macbook pro 2008 running snow leopard– connect computer.
have ibook 2001 running lion (?)– not connect computer.
problem , else can do? i'm doing fun , don't need new ipod.
