Mac Mail is taking >20% CPU usage - any ideas how to diagnose/fix?


my computer has been acting slow , when started activity monitor noticed mac mail taking between 20-40% of cpu when idling windows closed. idea why or how diagnose/fix problem?

thanks.
 

have tried quitting mail , relaunching it? restarting computer? i'd try first.
