i'm considering getting iworks, since found ibooks author extremely easy use. current version iworks '09, , i'm not sure if can next big update (e.g. iworks '12) free. have ideas?

the new version of iwork has been due time , in works of transitions being used in recent apple keynote presentations not in shipping iwork keynote product. apple never talks future software (or hardware) release timeframes no 1 knows when new version going released. suspect ibook author 1 of reasons new version of iwork delayed.
long overdue not least because current version not have proper icloud support yet, , many people expected updated when icloud came out last year.
far upgrades concerned, apple allows free upgrades software once has formally announced, not yet shipping new version.
