How do i stop the lion startup noise?

hi peeps,

every morning when turn imac on greeted loud lion startup noise , worried may wake parents. when have headphones plugged in still plays sound out loud. there anyway can mute noise permanently dont have each time turn mac on stop it?

you can mute volume before shut down.
