HandBrake to convert .m4v to .mp4

i have .m4v files saved on desktop want able watch on droid phone. downloaded handbrake intention of converting .m4v .mp4 format droid phone can play. when pointing handbrake source file convert on computer (the saved .m4v), handbrake comes "no valid source found". under impression handbrake convert .m4v .mp4. mistaken?

 

normally suffice rename "file.m4v" "file.mp4", .m4v container itunes usage, using same codec (h.264) .mp4 file.
if not work:

in order find out, may wrong video, can use following 3 applications analyse sample video file.

• videospec (free)
• mediainfo (free)
• media inspector (2.99 usd € in mac app store (mas))

when done, can use "report" (videospec) , "export" (media inspector) button export report, attachable next post via button.
in mediainfo have go menu bar, select view > text , copy text via cmd+a > cmd+c , paste via cmd+v next post.​
