Could someone explain me how the iPad 3 retina display would work?

hi, i'm new in forum (decided join after noticing people interesting insights here) , first post.

have thought getting ipad , pretty confirmed ipad 3 have retina display definitively 1 questions have risen , appreciate if shed light it.

own ipod touch , iphone 4s whenever play hd video or flick tru hi-res photos, amazing bc of retina display. know hd video not playing in native hd since displays 960x640 though video not in native hd still looks great bc of retina in such small display, since ipad display 2048x1536 hd movie (let's 720p) play @ full resolution on ipad 3 display, since apple pack 4 times many pixels compared current ipad in same area, wouldn't make movie bad? mean movie resolution has not switched. it's still 1280x720 running on 2048x1536 display there way more pixels in same space lets suppose same movie playing on ipad 2 , pixels stretch?

have no clue, know answer must simple. can me understand this?

by , large, stretching lower-resolution video fit higher-resolution display (much watching 720p video on 27" imac is,) looks lot better watching higher-resolution video on lower-resolution display (such watching 720p video on 3rd generation ipod touch.)

better have display pixels not enough display pixels.

yes, it's better have more pixels in source, too, being able display everything-and-then-some looks better not-displaying-everything.

1080p pictures better on high-res (1680x1050) 15" macbook pro on original 1152x768 titanium 15" powerbook g4. (the old g4 can't play video @ resolution, had settle still.)
