Clone or Fresh install

so tried searching , couldn't find recent advice has done advice appreciated.

got new momentus xt put in mid 2010 mbp , wondering if should create restore disc , brand new fresh install on hard drive , transfer music , files manually or if safe cloning it. when windows guy fresh install , run little faster before. i'm guessing lion bit more stable.

if clone program guys suggest, carboncopy? superduper? others?

else out while keep eye out while throwing new drive in there?

clean install. restore apps , files old hard drive via wizard @ first boot. done.
