Removing the superdrive to reduce the MBP's weight?

hello. macbook pro 17" (2010 model) not heavy. however, if carry many hours daily , have other stuff in bag (the bag alone 1.1kg), may want keep light. questions are:

1. knows correct weight, in kg, of superdrive?
2. if want removed, recommended ask genius it? it? void apple care?
3. people have done. feel noticeable difference in weight after drive has been removed?
4. if have drive removed, dust enter computer more easily?
5. can turn superdrive external drive buying external case it? recommendation on light, portable drive?

seldom use drive except installing software. thanks.

1. 6 oz (170 g) if remove superdrive only.
2. can yourself, checkout ifixit, should have guide. , if take apple after removing without replacing in there, applecare technically voided.
3. haven't done this.
4. no. wouldn't make sense.
5. yes can, no suggestion.
